Preparation Cleaning Prior to Sealing
Before apply Guard Industry sealers we strongly recommend you thoroughly clean the surfaces to ensure good penetration and long lasting performance. Guard Cleaner® Eco Soiled Floors should be used as an complement to Guard Remover® Eco Efflorescence & Cement for preparation of porous materials. These two products provide the perfect GFRC /concrete preparation before applying a finishing product.
Apply Sealer to Minimise Cleaning
Once your surfaces are clean it pays to keep them that way! We recommend using a sealer from the ProtectGuard® Sealer Range to protect your surfaces. This will significantly reduce the likelihood of future staining and make surfaces much easier to clean in the future. There are products to suit all types of porous materials in all kinds of applications.
For a food safe sealer to match your food safe cleaner we recommend ProtectGuard® MG Eco. This product is a natural look sealer which itself is Food Contact Compliant. It is a very popular bench top sealer and works well on tiles, stone and polished concrete floors in food prep areas. It contains essentially no VOC’s and is therefore is the first choice indoor sealer for those with allergies, or who are concerned about chemicals in the home.
If you have an oil stain that just won’t budge you might be able to hide it with ProtectGuard® Wet Finish Premium. This product provides an intense colour enhancement to porous materials. The colour enhancement is the same as what the surface looks like when it soaks up water. This colour enhancing effect is often similar to the colour of oil stains and therefore the rest of your surface can be enhanced to match the stain and make it less noticeable.
Before trying this approach we recommend you do a small spot trial first. Check that the look of the sealer on the stone matches the stain on the stone and that the sealer does not react with the stain itself.
